Friends of Cow
Creek Preserve
Membership Application:
We,
as members of Friends of Cow Creek
Preserve, (FoCCP) support the
objectives of the
Stewardship Council,
Cow Creek Watershed Management
Group (CCWMG), and the
Western Shasta Resource Conservation District
(WSRCD).
These objectives include:
1.
Enhance the beneficial values and uses of the watershed lands and
to improve the lives of young Californians through connections to the
outdoors.
2.
Use the resources in the Cow Creek Watershed in a way to meet the
needs of today without infringing on the needs of future generations.
3.
Promote a sustainable community in the Cow Creek Watershed. This
biological community includes the human community as well as the aquatic
and terrestrial plants and animals, and associated habitats. We
recognize that a sound economic base of the human community is the first
requisite of a healthy ecosystem.
If
you want Whitmore preserved for future generations please join us at a
FoCCP meeting and see how you can help. Together we can make a
difference in our much loved community. Check us out!

Most of all, we had some good old fashioned fun!
The picnic was be held from noon 'til dusk. We'll
had lots of food, games and information.
It was a great success!

What's in My Backyard? Whitmore
Summer Reading Program
Cassie and Katy Patrick hosted Whitmore Library's
summer reading program for youth. They chose as the theme: 'What's in My
Backyard?'
We all had a lot of fun and got acquainted with out
outdoors through books, activities and games.
This was an extension of Laura's class with a similar
theme, in order to encourage interest in our world and stewardship among
our young citizens.
Whitmore Mountain Faire 2009

FoCCP cooperated with Whitmore School in sponsoring a float at this
event. We didn't win, but we had a lot of fun!

Annual Lavender Garden
Festival at Tuscan Gardens
We had a booth at the festival and it was great fun!

What's in Your Backyard?
Our first class in this series, What's in Your
Backyard?, is taught by Laura Carnley on the subject of local geology
and geologic features. This series of 8 classes began on October 8,
2008. A final field trip to Mount Lassen is planned.
We hope to offer other classes with this central
theme, in order to encourage interest and stewardship among young and
old alike.

We hope to offer future community picnics, in order to encourage interest
in the future of Kilarc, to encourage FoCCP membership, to encourage stewardship among young and
old alike, but most of all, to have some good old fashioned fun!

One of our directors, Maggie Trevelyan, helped design t-shirts for the

different t-shirts made in the future. Thanks Maggie!
Whitmore Summer Fair - Wildlife Rescue Skit
At the 2007 Whitmore Summer Fair, Cassie and Katy
Patrick gave a skit on wildlife rescue. It humorously demonstrated how
to safely rescue small animals and birds.
FoCCP also had an informational booth at the fair,
headed by RJ Roth.

Wildlife Rescue on Earth Day, 2007!
Cassie and Katy Patrick, with the help of Reni
Michelle, gave a presentation on wildlife rescue at Whitmore School. It
was their first time in front of an audience, and in spite of a little
